Related ArticlesThe protein encoded by this gene belongs to the phosphatase 2A regulatory subunit B family. Protein phosphatase 2A is one of the four major Ser/Thr phosphatases, and it is implicated in the negative control of cell growth and division. It consists of a common heteromeric core enzyme, which is composed of a catalytic subunit and a constant regulatory subunit, that associates with a variety of regulatory subunits. The B regulatory subunit might modulate substrate selectivity and catalytic act

Oct2 is a transcription factor that specifically binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3'). Oct2 regulates transcription in a number of tissues in addition to activating immunoglobulin gene expression. It also modulates transcription transactivation by NR3C1, AR and PGR. Oct2 is B cell specific, belongs to the POU transcription factor family class 2 subfamily and contains 1 homeobox domain.
Mammalian PNK catalyzes the phosphorylation of DNA at 5'-hydroxyl termini and can dephosphorylate its 3'-phosphate termini. It plays an important function in DNA repair following ionizing radiation or oxidative damage. PNK has been reported to participate in the repair of DNA-double strand breaks via PARP-1-dependent nonhomologous end-joining.
